Thursday Thoughts: Cris Anson Talks About Her New Release Aaron's Jewel, Love and Sex after 50 and Chocolate

Warning: Mature sexual themes.

Today we welcome Cris Anson to the Grove. Cris' newest novel, Aaron's Jewel releases September 26.

Synopsis for Aaron's Jewel

Finding a position as corporate legal counsel in one’s middle-50s after being downsized sucks, so Aaron haunts his local dungeon to soothe his frustration. Feeling squeezed by work and family obligations, ghost writer Julia turns up at the same dungeon to do “research” for her current assignment.
The moment they meet, the dominant in Aaron recognizes the submissive in Julia.
He peels away the layers of her shyness along with her clothes. He gets her—his Jewel—naked and writhing against the cross and over the spanking bench. And she revels in his dominance and tutelage, discovering her wanton self whether tied to a bed in private or blindfolded and the target of many hands in public.
But real life isn’t all adult fun and games. Not when grown children, parents, careers and aging bodies conspire to challenge their burgeoning relationship.

Storyteller's Grove:  So Cris, tell us about yourself and what brought you to writing?
Cris Anson: Many years ago, after my first husband died, I poured all my grief and fears and rage into a journal. After a year or so, I took some of those emotions and began to twist them into scenes with a semblance of a happy ending, even if it was only on paper, to help me cope. Eventually the writing bug really did bite me and I set out to learn my craft. My second husband encouraged my writing efforts, and was thrilled to see several of my books published in his lifetime. Now that he’s also gone, I make sure that parts of him — his honor, courage, optimism, tenacity, and lust for life — live on in all my heroes.

I also firmly believe that life doesn’t stop at the bedroom door, so when I discovered Ellora’s Cave, I happily jumped into erotic romance and never looked back. In fact, I’ve been delving into BDSM and my more recent stories reflect my in-depth, hands-on research in the “Scene”.

SG: Share with our readers a little about your book.
CA: When Ellora’s Cave put out a call for their “VaVa Boomers” series, I was intrigued. They wanted sexy seniors—mature heroines (not cougars) and heroes who have the benefit of experience and well-developed skills, “because love, like women and fine wine, gets better with age.”

And so my novella, AARON’S JEWEL, was born. Both Aaron and Julia have real-life problems to deal with, but their connection is immediate and there’s plenty of red-hot sex—when they manage to find time together. As a mature woman myself, I’m here to tell you that you’re never too old to want to love and be loved (and to have red-hot sex!).
.
SG: What do you love about writing? Hate?
CA: I hate when I get writers’ block, which I do on a regular basis. I’m not one of those folks who has zillions of plots in their head, so I have to really dig deep when I’m starting out. And backtracking when I get stumped as to what’s next.

On the other hand, I love it when, about halfway through the book, the characters start talking back to me, start doing things I hadn’t anticipated. That’s when I know I’m on the right track.

SG: What do you love to eat while writing?

CA: Dove Dark Chocolates. I have to ration them or else I’d eat the entire bag. I’ll take a few upstairs with me and leave the rest in the fridge so I won’t be tempted.

SG: What do you love to drink while you pour steam on the page?
CA: Ice water with a slice of lemon. I can’t have tea or coffee because of the caffeine, I don’t like the fizz of sodas, and one glass of wine makes me sleepy. Yes, I’m a cheap date!

SG: Do you consider yourself more of a hunter or a gatherer?
CA: Not merely a gatherer, I’m a nester, almost a hoarder. I hate to throw things away because I know I’ll need it a week after I toss it. I surround myself with things I love or need, and my desk has mounds of papers. But I know what’s where! (Mostly.) Even outdoors, I tend a compost pile of all the weeds and grass clippings and corn husks and stuff.

SG: If you were a box of cereal, what would you be and why?
CA: Rice Krispies, because I like to snap, crackle and pop.

SG: If you could throw a parade, what kind would it be?
CA: Raucus, rainbow, pandemonium. Seventy-six trombones meets New Orleans jazz band meets Scottish bagpipers complete with kilts, and a grand piano on a float with my brother playing Rhapsody in Blue full-bore. And everyone watching would respectfully salute the flag as the Color Guard marches by.

“Passion Without Boundaries” is the tagline on my website www.crisanson.com  because I firmly believe that life doesn't stop at the bedroom door. I had a deeply romantic relationship with my husband of 22 years, and I want to celebrate his memory in my writing. After he died, it took me a long time to come out of my grief, but parts of him -- his honor, courage, optimism, tenacity, and lust for life -- live on in all my heroes. They’re all alpha men, as well.
My first book, DANCE OF THE SEVEN VEILS, was published in 2005 and is still in print. AARON’S JEWEL is my 15th title with Ellora’s Cave. In the past few years I’ve become interested in the BDSM sub-culture and my most recent books reflect my hands-on research. I also blog about my BDSM experiences at Cris Anson’s Passions. http://crisansonspassions.blogspot.com/

Interview with Scott Wieczorek Author of Awakening. Half-caf, Bigfoot and Angels

Today we welcome Scott Wieczorek to the Grove. Scott's third novel,Awakening will release next week in eBook form. We asked Scott to sit down with us and tell us something about his book and himself. We'll be back next week with an excerpt and links so you can have your own copy.

Storyteller’s Grove: Tell us about yourself and what brought you to writing?
Scott Wieczorek: I wanted to write since a young age. In truth, I had two passions—no three. I wanted to either be an archaeologist, a mercenary (as any '80s kid did when confronted with the "Red Threat"), or a

writer. Well I managed to complete two of those goals: I work as a professional archaeologist, and though I write plenty for my job, it's not what I really want to be writing, so I write fiction.
I guess I first got pulled into writing due to my passion for reading. When I was about seven years old, I read a book called Sphinx by Robin Cook, it was a thriller about Egyptology and a archaeologist/treasure hunter. It had everything, action, adventure, and secret societies. Since then my imagination has been alive with stories and tales, and I have been itching to put them to paper.

SG: Share with our readers a little about your book, Awakening.
Scott: Awakening is my third novel and the first in a new series. It has everything—romance, action, adventure, secret societies, and a fast pace. Elena Michaels is a college student whose life turns upside down. After meeting a mysterious stranger on campus, she is pulled into a world of myth, fantasy, and science where she becomes the target of an ancient race of Angels who are hell-bent on world domination. On the run, she needs to reach the only one who can help her survive and save mankind.

SG: What made you choose to publish through a smaller independent press?
Scott: I self-published my first two novels, Byron: A Zombie Tale, and Witness Through Time, after having a tremendous amount of trouble finding a publisher to take them. I had even approached a few agents and met constant rejection. So I decided to just put them out there and see what happened. Basically, they gave me the confidence to keep writing and to finally land a publisher. My third novel, Awakening is being released through Lycaon Press on September 10th. I am so excited!
Witness Through Time will be re-release through Three Worlds Press later this year.

SG: What do you love about writing? Hate?
Scott: What I love about writing is being able to express my creativity in a form I love. From the age of about six or so, I have been writing all sorts of stories. My preference has always been for horror. In essence, I get to do what I love.
What do I hate about it? Nothing, really. My frustrations are more with the how hard it is to get a publisher to look at you. But that all comes with time.

SG:What do you love to eat while writing?
Scott: I generally don't eat while writing. I can sit in front of the computers for hours on end at times and just forget about anything and everything. It's weird—I get in the zone and nothing else exists. Of course, that's when I have time to write.

SG: What do you love to drink while writing?
Scott: Usually while writing, I'll be drinking a cup of coffee—either half-caf or decaf. Don't need the top of my head popping off from high-blood pressure *laughs*.

SG: If you could be a character in a book or movie, who and why?
Scott: Harry Keogh from Brian Lumley's Necroscope Series. Harry was a levelheaded man who could do amazing things with his mind. He could speak with the teeming dead, learn their secrets, and in the end even call them back from the grave. He could see people's destinies through holes in time/space, and even cheated death. It would be fascinating to have his abilities and see the things he has seen.

SG:  Do you believe in Bigfoot?
Scott: I think a more important question is: Does Bigfoot believe in me? I mean, there has been a lot of documentation for cryptozoological species that defy logic and reason. There are bound to be species we have not identified—independent evolution has spun off such amazing creatures. It's definitely plausible enough to see something like it could exist. Perhaps a genetic variation on Neanderthal previously undiscovered. What makes it more plausible is there being independent legends on multiple continents of a similar creature (Yeti and Bigfoot). And if I had his support and backing for my book—wow! What a sponsorship, huh? Stamping the cover with "Bigfoot Approved!"

SG: If you were on an island and could only bring 3 things, what would you bring?
Scott:I am guessing this would be a deserted island. The three things I would bring are:
1) A picture of my family—I couldn't see myself living without them.
2) A good knife—it's probably one of the most versatile implements to have in any situation.

3) A satellite phone with built-in GPS—I'm not stupid, I'd want to get rescued. Of course with my luck, the battery would be dead and I would be SOL!

Thursday Thoughts: Interview with Kenneth Hoss, author of the Kelli Storm series

This week, I am privileged to have the chance to chat with Kenneth Hoss, author of the highly successful Kelli Storm series, Book 4, Eye of the Storm which releases on the 16th.

Author's Synopsis:
The body of a Russian prostitute is dumped in a Washington Heights park and Detectives Kelli Storm and Eric Ryder are called to the scene. A note found on the woman’s body containing her name and that of a former Russian mobster leads Kelli to an old nemesis.

When they confront a Russian Diplomat and the Russian Brotherhood with little success, they seek the help of an FBI contact who aids them in finding a connection between the Diplomat and a corrupt FSB Agent, and uncover a criminal conspiracy between a dangerous Mexican cartel and a notorious New York crime family.

As Kelli peels away the layers of death and corruption, she soon finds herself targeted by these organizations, all wanting to eliminate the threat to themselves and their livelihoods.

~~~~~
Please welcome, Kenneth Hoss to the Grove.
Storyteller’s Grove: So, Ken, tell us about yourself and what brought you to writing?
Kenneth Hoss: Well, I’m in my late 50’s and single. My day job, when I’m working, is in the IT field as an analyst. Right now I’m taking time off after working a contract for the past two years. I must say, it is nice not to have to get up in the morning and run out the door.
I started writing back in High School; I had a lot of stories in my head, and needed to get them out. Back then I read mostly Science Fiction; Heinlein, Bradbury, Asimov and the like. Of course, it was all done with pen and paper back then, no computers and my parents wouldn’t get me a typewriter. (Yes, we had already moved on from stone tablets, even though the dinosaurs were still rambling through the neighborhood.)
I continued my writing while in the Navy and wrote a Fantasy novel based on a world I created for Dungeons and Dragons. (Yes, I did play the game and even became a Grand Dungeon Master. Big nerd.) The book never got published as I was naïve enough to believe in a publisher who was just a bit unscrupulous and informed me after I sent my entire MS that they never received it. With no backup copy, (still no computer), I was sunk. Suffice to say that I learned my lesson. I stopped writing for a while; several years in fact, until an old High School girlfriend gave me a push.
After several “bad” starts, Kelli came along and rest is history.
SG: Share with our readers a little about your book.
KH: Kelli Storm is back for another book. This time the stakes are even higher when she and her partner, Eric Ryder, uncover a major criminal enterprise involving a Russian Diplomat, a corrupt FSB Major, a dangerous Mexican cartel and one of New York’s deadliest crime families.
SG: What made you choose to self-publish your book?
KH: After trying the traditional route with the first book, and getting no results, I began looking for alternatives. Of course with my previous bad experience with vanity presses, I avoided that route. When a friend and fellow author told me about Smashwords, I looked into it and once I had checked all of the fine print, which there was none really, I published Storm Rising.
SG: Now for the fun questions... let's start with... What’s your sign? How do you think it effects your writing?
KH: I don’t believe in astrology, but I am a Pisces and I don’t think it effects my writing at all.
SG: What do you love about writing? Hate?
KH: A good question. I love writing because it lets me get the stories out of my head. It can get annoying when your MC keeps nagging at you. What I hate most is editing and writing the synopsis, trying to condense an entire book into a few short paragraphs.
SG: Are you more of a hunter or a gather?
KH: Tough one. I suppose I’m a little of both. I’m always hunting for a good deal, and I love going to the grocery store or local farmers market.
SG: Do you believe in Bigfoot?
KH: Sure, I’ve even seen a “Bigfoot” type creature in my area, when I was camping at a local lake. I believe it was named the Fouk Monster, as it was originally discovered in Fouk, Arkansas. I also believe in UFO’s.
SG: If you were on an island and could only bring 3 things, what would you bring?
KH: Books, lots of wine, and a camping stove.
SG: If you were 80 years old, what would you tell your children?
KH: “Don’t make the mistakes in your lives that I’ve made in mine.”
Thank you for joining us and giving your readers and ours a glimpse into the workings of your mind.
If you have not read the excerpt posted last week, you can read it by clicking HERE.
To read any or all of the first three novels go to Mr. Hoss' Amazon Page and watch for the upcoming release of Eye of the Storm on August 16th.
Interview with Torie James: Timeless Desire in New Camelot
     Today we are visited by Torie James as she travels far and wide proclaiming her new book, Timeless Desire, the second book of her New Camelot series.
~~~~~~~~~~
     If you could live forever, what would you choose to live for? I chose honor...

     Awakening to a new world, Gawain has high hopes that the last 500 years have cooled the fires of hatred burning in the heart of his wife, Nimue. Cruelly betrayed by the one person she put all her faith and trust in, Nimue hasn't forgotten the lone cowardly act of one of King Arthur's greatest knights. Together again and yet forever apart, can they heal the past when a new enemy rises to threaten the foundation of all they hold dear?

Storyteller’s Grove:  So Torie tell our readers a bit about yourself and your writing journey.
Torie James: Most people go their whole lives not knowing what they were born to do. I discovered mine a little past the age of 8 but lacked the ambition and motivation until the last few years. Then the most extraordinary thing happened. I met a wizard in a forest.
     What? Did I mention it was a dream? Still counts!
     I met Merlyn Emrys. Yes, THE Merlyn Emrys of ancient Arthurian Lore. Note: we are NOT talking a spindly legged, heavily bearded old man with bad teeth and surly attitude. He hates that image, by the way and says he can own Gandalf the White any day. *winks* So, I had this dream one night after watching Highlander II followed by Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I was also reading a bit Charlaine Harris in between movies. Long story short, Merlyn said two words to me, “What if”. What if we got the players right but the stories wrong? The tales of Arthur, Excalibur and Camelot. Then he told me what REALLY happened...
     And I created New Camelot.
     My newest book, Timeless Desire, Book 2 of New Camelot, picks up were Timeless Night, Book One, left off. In the first book, we meet Alex and Sabrina, the main protagonists, and learn that all the myths of the Fae, of Merlyn and Arthur, are true. Sabrina is the catalyst that brings into play a prophecy foretold a thousand years ago and reunites the bravest knights of Arthur’s fabled roundtable.
Book 2 tells the story of Gawain and his fiery wife, Nimue. One secret separates them, one curse divides them. He loves her and she yearns for his heart....in her killing grasp.

SG: What’s your sign? How do you think it affects your writing?
TJ: I am an Aquarian, proudly so! I know, without any doubt that it does affect my writing since the Water Bearer is all about thinking outside of the box! There is no “norm” to me, I color waaaay outside the lines and often love to bring fantastical, futuristic musings to the past.

SG: What do you love to drink?
TJ: Coffee and Dr. Pepper. When I’m lucky, I can run down a Mr. Pibb and then it is ON!

SG: Do you believe in Bigfoot?
TJ: Absolutely.

SG: If you were on an island and could only bring 3 things, what would you bring?
TJ: Chocolate, my cell phone (I’d conserve the battery...mostly!) and a sock. Just one sock. For my hand. So I could make a hand puppet named Ermie to keep me company when I lost my mind.

SG: If you were 80 years old, what would you tell your children?
TJ: Designer Depends only and go heavy on the baby powder. My cheeks love being pampered.

SG: Can you instruct someone how to make an origami "cootie catcher" with just words?
TJ: Yep. Find Justin Bieber. Attach to self. There you go.

Torie James has loved reading since she was old enough to hold a book in her lap. While her friends were out playing, she was generally curled up nearby falling down rabbit holes, catching second stars to the right, and stepping through wardrobes into mysterious lands and countless adventures. When those stories ended, she made up her own and kept going. This later on translated into a strong passion for writing that has helped her keep her feet on the ground while her head stayed firmly in the clouds. Lover of Dr. Pepper, all things chocolate, and Duran Duran, her dreams finally became a reality with her debut novel, Timeless Night, in 2013 by Breathless Press. Creator of the "New Camelot" series, as well as "The Cloie Chronicles", Ms. James has plans to continue spinning many new worlds.
Torie lives in Southern California with her family and a houseful of pets that rule the roost.

Hot Valentine's Interview Andy from Another Gift to Remember by Diane Thorne

Blog Warning:  Another Gift to Remember and A Gift to Remember contain mature themes. You must be over 21 to purchase.

Valentine’s Day if right around the corner and if you are looking for a HOT read and maybe a gift idea or two, you’ve come to the right place.

Today we sit down with Andy from Another Gift to Remember by Diane Thorne. Andy made a brief appearance in Ms. Thorne’s bestseller A Gift to Remember, but rises *** cough, cough*** to prominence in this sequel. Please give him a warm welcome.

Storyteller’s Grove:   It’s so nice to have this chance to chat with you. So tell us about yourself. What got you in the crosshairs for Ms. Thorne?

Andy:   I own a marketing firm with my best friend, Thomas. We went to college together and played football. He's a great guy and I love his wife. She's smoking hot, funny, and smart. She came up with the best birthday surprise for Thomas. He is one lucky man. Anyway, my 40th birthday is coming up and I guess Diane thought it would be a great idea for me to have an equally special day.

SG:       Did you have any idea what the plan was for your birthday?

Andy:   Honestly, I suspected Thomas had something up his sleeve for me. I knew he couldn't let the day go by without doing something big. But I never in a million years thought he would've put together what he did. I mean… I had the best birthday any man could wish for. You'll have to forgive me, but I don't want to give too much away to readers.

SG:       I understand. Were you stunned by the parties involved with your birthday surprise?

Andy:   I was floored. I couldn't believe… Thomas and I are truly blessed to know such special women.

SG:       I’m sure our readers and fans of the book want to know… Boxers, briefs or Commando?

Andy:   Boxers. I don't like my boys to be too constricted.

SG:       If your partner wants to seduce you, what's one sure fire trick she can play?

Andy:   Dancing. I love when a woman dances close with me. I love to feel her and smell her. Kissing turns up the heat.

SG:       After your big birthday surprise, did you think you would have problems at work?

Andy:   Well, I thought it might be a little awkward. But I recall Thomas telling me about his situation and how he managed to work it out. I thought I could do the same. We just need to communicate. Be open with each other. But when the problems with reports came up, I didn't know what to think. It was difficult, but I knew my best friend could help straighten out the situation. We came together and resolved the situation. Now, I couldn't be happier.

SG:       Secretly, did you have an interest in Thomas's wife, Lynn?

Andy:   Well, I always thought she was sexy and smart. If he had passed on her years ago, I would've gone after her.

SG:       And what about Carol? Did you ever have an interest in her?

Andy:   Carol is also sexy. She has great curves. I'm not going to lie, I had thought about banging her a time or two. But since we worked together and she was close to Thomas, I discounted ever going out with her.

SG:       Which is better, sex at the office or at home?

Andy:   Well, both are nice. But it's nice to have a stress reliever during the work day.

SG:       Are you happy with the way things turned out at work?

Andy:   I didn't realize I had a problem employee, but yeah, I was glad to get rid of her. And now I have the best women in the world working with Thomas and me. Life couldn't be better.

SG:       Would you like to say anything else to our readers?

Andy:   Thanks for the interview. I probably gave too much away, but I hope readers will check out Diane's novella, Another Gift to Remember. It's a hot read and I'm pleased to be one of the main characters in the story.

Thomas Barrett has it all. He's a part owner of a marketing firm with his best friend of twenty years, Andy. In addition to a successful career, Thomas enjoys the love of two beautiful women, his wife, Lynn, and his assistant, Carol. He couldn't be happier with life.
Tasked with finding a gift idea for Andy's fortieth birthday, Thomas comes up with a perfect one. Not only will it please Andy, Thomas is certain his idea will provide great pleasure to Lynn and Carol. Thomas wants his favorite naughty women to bring Andy into their love nest. But will Lynn and Carol be willing to have sex with Thomas's best friend? Better yet, can Andy maintain a working and sexual relationship with them.

You can purchase Another Gift to Remember at it's Breathless Press page (CLICK HERE)
